PR/Marketing Internship

Duties & Responsibilities:
The PR/Marketing Intern will support all members of the Development Team & Housing Resource Center and will gain experience across a broad spectrum of fundraising, events planning, market research, press relations, marketing, and communications. The PR/Marketing Intern will have the unique opportunity to work with multiple departments on a variety of marketing and communications projects. The duties of the PR/Marketing Intern will be both administrative and project-based.

· Assist with planning special events
· Compose press releases, editorials, and letters to the editor, and research different press outlets
· Assist with newsletter creation, including composing newsletter articles, editing, and layout
· Maintain information packets for volunteers and donors, outreach to community partners
· Provide administrative support for the department
· Work with holiday volunteer groups
· Assist with additional projects as they arise

In addition to these duties, the PR/Marketing intern is encouraged to introduce and carry out new ideas and projects. This position is unpaid. Start and end dates are flexible, but a 10 week minimum commitment is preferable. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 10-15 hours per week.

Characteristics and skills needed:
Community Housing Network is looking for a student who is creative, innovative, and hard working. Must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies in marketing, communications, public policy, business, or related field. Good written and oral communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail are a must, as well as the ability to work independently within the framework of a given project. These positions require a strong interest in nonprofit work, social change, and creating affordable housing for the homeless and people with disabilities.
