Homeless Awareness Week in Michigan - November 9-15, 2008 Adopt-A-Family Program to Benefit Formerly Homeless

TROY, MI - Did you know that families comprise more than half of the homeless in Michigan? Here are some other facts that may surprise you. Thirty-three percent are working poor. Seventy-seven percent are homeless due to lack of affordable housing. One out of every 3 homeless persons is children?

Community Housing Network, Inc. needs donors to help purchase items for 250-300 formerly homeless people this Holiday Season. Many of them subsist on disability benefits or very limited incomes. Although they are no longer homeless, they can barely afford necessities such as groceries and cleaning supplies.

Please consider helping during Homeless Awareness Week by donating cash or gift cards or by adopting a family or an individual during this season of sharing.
