Adopt A Family

We need your help!

Each year, Community Housing Network offers an Adopt A Family program to make the holidays brighter for families and individuals in need. Adopt A Family provides basic necessities and gifts to people we serve in our housing and other programs who have very limited income. Many of them are just getting back on their feet after experiencing homelessness.

Many of the families we serve are in need of very basic items. Coats, boots, hats and gloves are in high demand, along with clothing and household items. We also ask each participant to request one or two gift items, something fun or something that they may have had their eye on. For many, these will be the only gifts they receive at the holidays.

Will you partner with us in 2012?

Whole Foods - One Dime at a Time

Provide Your Time & Services as a Volunteer

If you are looking for an opportunity to help people who are homeless, people with disabilities, and other people with housing needs find long-term, successful housing, volunteering at Community Housing Network might be for you!

More than 100 volunteers gave over 3,000 hours of their time and talents to Community Housing Network last year.

Adopt A Family Program: A large number of volunteers are needed to find and log in donations, sort and wrap gifts, and/or deliver holiday packages to formerly homeless families during the holiday season. Worksites, individuals, schools, civic and faith-based organizations can help fill wish lists for families or individuals. They can also help by making a donation of cash or gift cards, new cleaning supplies and/or personal care products.

Events: Worksites and individuals can become event sponsors or donate quality auction items or experiences to Raise the Roof for Affordable Housing, CHN’s signature fundraising event held in the fall. Volunteers are also needed to serve on the event-planning committees whose work includes networking for sponsors, procuring auction items, and other event-related activities leading up to the event.

Community Projects: Teams of volunteers are sought to assist in the bi-annual homeless street counts and assemble outreach kits consisting of items such as socks, hygiene items and portable food.

Workshops: Professionals with special knowledge or skills are sought to give workshop presentations or co-facilitate on homebuyer education, financial education, and other topics of interest to CHN staff members and program participants, as well as assisting with logistics of holding workshops at CHN.

For more information about opportunities or to volunteer, please contact Elizabeth Ireland at 248-928-0111 ext. 1366 or eireland@chninc.net .
