CHN is the lead agency administering the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) for the Oakland County Continuum of Care.
HMIS uses Internet-based technology to assist homeless service organizations and Continuums of Care to capture information about the clients they serve. This information is gathered via interviews conducted by service providers with consumers, and analyzed for an unduplicated count of homeless persons.
Use of HMIS is mandated by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and in addition to providing Congress with information about the state of homelessness across the nation, HMIS data provides valuable information to reporters and policy makers.
CHN was recognized by HUD in 2006 for outstanding achievement in HMIS, and continues to be recognized as a leader in the field.
