Grafton Townhomes

Grafton Townhomes is a community of 48-unit high-quality, rental residential homes. The community features 24 two-bedroom units and 24 three-bedroom units. 12 of the homes are Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) units, with a project based voucher and additional supportive services. Grafton Townhomes is located on 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe. Occupancy began in late 2015. All of the units are for households at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Grafton Townhomes offer a community space, tot lot, is located nearby many community amenities such as public transportation, grocery stores, places of worship, recreational spaces and health care facilities, and onsite support staff.

Requirements for Living Here

Household’s for the PSH units are pulled from the county’s registry. To be placed on the registry you must meet HUD’s category one (1) definition of experiencing homelessness: living unsheltered on the street, living in a homeless shelter, living in a hotel being paid for by a service agency, living in a place not meant for human habitation. Applicants must pass a basic credit and criminal background check to qualify. If your household income is at 60% AMI, rents range from $790-$880 based on family size and number of bedrooms. For households with lower incomes, lower rents are available. Grafton Townhomes accepts Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly known as Section 8 vouchers).

Transportation

Grafton Townhomes is located within a short, walkable and accessible distance from modes of public transportation. Public transit to the site is supplied by the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) via their Fixed Routes and Groesbeck Flex Route. The following are applicable routes and bus stops servicing the subject site:

  • Route 730 10 Mile Crosstown 1 mile north of site
  • Route 530 Schoenherr 1 mile west of site
  • Route 560 Gratiot 0.5 miles east of site
  • Route 565 Gratiot 0.5 miles east of site

Groesbeck Flex Route:

Riders can call SMART and schedule pick-up arrangements for rides to appointments, work or shopping destinations. The flex route operates Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
