We offer weekend Homebuyer Education webinars where we cover a number of topics. Classes cost $30 per session:

Purchase The Homebuyer Education Class
Webinars are ongoing and held weekly. Once you have registered and paid for the “HUD-approved Homebuyer Education” webinar, you will receive a separate email with instructions on how to complete your user profile and to eSign the required disclosures. PLEASE NOTE: All purchases must be made by 2 p.m. the day prior to each webinar.
CHN reserves the right to cancel and reschedule the webinar due to low enrollment 24 hours prior to the course date. This course fulfills certain requirements of the MSHDA loan program. Households do not need to be MSHDA loan applicants to attend the course. Completion of this course will provide a HUD-approved Homebuyer Education certificate valid for one year from the date of issue. Attendees must complete the full 4-hour webinar to receive a certificate.

We partner with eHome America to offer a $99 online Homebuyer Education course. This course is self-paced and can be completed from anywhere, as long as you have a computer and an internet connection. The course is available in English and Spanish.
Purchasing a home can be intimidating! Our online Homebuyer Education will help you prepare for this big step.

We offer free, confidential one on one counseling for Oakland and Macomb county residents seeking to purchase a home. Sessions are typically 90-120 minutes with client follow up after 90 days. Our certified counselors work with clients to review credit, analyze their finances, discuss financing options and develop realistic action plans. A nominal credit report fee is required if clients wish to know their FICO scores. This Soft Inquiry will not affect the client’s credit. Client’s are allowed to access their free consumer credit report once per year through www.annualcreditreport.com

Anyone is eligible for Homebuyer Education.
Note: Completion of these courses fulfill the requirements for the MSHDA (Michigan State Housing Development Authority) mortgage loan and down payment assistance program. You do not have to be a MSHDA loan applicant to participate. Information on the MSHDA MI First Home loan program and down payment assistance program can be found here.
CHN also holds periodic classes that fulfill the requirements for HUD home purchase programs. The eHome America online course fulfills all requirements for HUD home purchase programs.
Weekend Webinars ($30/attendee)
Registration in advance is required. There is a registration fee of $30 per attendee – scholarships may be available for those with a demonstrated hardship and an inability to pay, please follow this link for more information. After you complete the course, you will need to contact a CHN Housing Counselor. They will review your training and email your Homebuyer Education completion certificate.
