Jefferson Oaks

Jefferson Oaks features the adaptive reuse of the vacant Thomas Jefferson School building, including 20 one- and two-bedroom apartments and community space. The community also includes an additional 40 three- and four-bedroom townhome-style units. Twenty-one of the units are set aside for supportive housing with project-based rental assistance.
 
Jefferson Oaks is a mixed-income community designed of high quality residential homes built and maintained to be appealing and affordable for hard-working families and individuals. The total development cost is more than $17.5 million and is our largest development to date.

The development was completed and fully leased in late 2018.

Transportation

Jefferson Oaks is located within a short, walkable and accessible distance of public transportation. The Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) operates: Route 710, a westbound and eastbound, fixed bus route along Nine Mile Road. The closest stop along SMART Route 710 is located .10 miles from the development site. This fixed route runs both eastbound and westbound along 9 Mile Road at regular intervals. It also provides transfer service to these additional routes via the Northland Center and 9 Mile/Woodward intersection:

Requirements for living here

The homes are available for families of mixed income levels earning between 30% and 60% of Oakland County’s Area Median Income (AMI). Please see table below for corresponding income limits. These limits determine monthly rents and which homes households are eligible for.

Applicants must pass a basic credit and criminal background check to qualify. For households with a gross household income at or below 60% AMI, rents range from $626-$979 based on family size and number of bedrooms. For households with lower incomes, lower rents are available. Jefferson Oaks accepts Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly known as Section 8 vouchers).
