Virtual Summer Volunteer Opportunities 2020
In response to COVID19, CHN is offering virtual volunteer opportunities to mobilize our community to come together and make a real impact. Please contact Alex at 248-590-6143 or aurbanczyk@chninc.net for more information on how you can get involved and become a virtual volunteer!
Virtual Volunteer Opportunities
- Advocate & Fundraise for CHN’s Virtual Run for a Cause
In lieu of our annual in person fundraisers this year, we are hosting a virtual run during the entire month of July to raise funds to support CHN. We need your help to spread the word! Click here for a list of ideas on how to get started earning service hours by helping us promote our Virtual Run for a Cause! - Back-to-School Supplies Collection
CHN distributes school supplies to our families each year. This year school supplies are more important then ever. We want to equip our families with all the school supplies we can to prepare them for the possibility of remote learning. Click here to view list!
- Welcome Home Baskets Donation Drive & Assembly
Each time CHN is able to move a formerly homeless family into their new home, a Welcome Home Basket is provided. These basic items are a way to welcome individuals and families into their new space. We encourage you to be creative & make the baskets fun and unique. Click here to learn more about how to create Welcome Home Baskets. - Basic Items Drive
CHN is always in need of basic necessities to stock our storage room. These items are distributed directly to homeless individuals and to participants in all of CHN’s housing programs. Please click here to find out how to do a donation drive and make it easy and fun! - Can Collection
As bottle returns start to open, a lot of people have stockpiles of bottles and cans that they are hoping to donate. Reach out to your friends, family members, and neighbors – even post on your social media channels to help spread the word that you are collecting bottles/cans. Most people will probably be very happy to let you take them off their hands – especially when you explain to them that the proceeds are going to a great cause!
*It’s important to remember that you must return the cans yourself and donate the proceeds to CHN in order to earn service hours for this project.
*CHN cannot under any circumstance accept or store any bottles or cans. - Make Masks or Collect PPE
Our PATH team continues to do outreach on the streets. CHN is using masks and other PPE to protect staff and also passing PPE out to those on the streets and housing program participants. CHN is accepting donations of any/all homemade masks and other PPE items such as gloves, hand sanitizer, disposable thermometers, and disinfectant spray/wipes.
