Victories Square: Bringing Affordable Housing to Petoskey

Community Housing Network (CHN) proudly hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony last month in Petoskey to celebrate the opening of our newest housing development, Victories Square—an exciting milestone for both CHN and Emmet County. This event brought together local leaders, project partners, and community members to recognize years of planning, collaboration, and shared vision for expanding access to housing in Northern Michigan.
Located just minutes from the scenic shoreline of Lake Michigan, Victories Square brings 50 new workforce apartments to an area where housing demand continues to far outpace supply. More individuals and families across Michigan are struggling to find safe, affordable places to live, especially those working in essential roles that keep communities running—teachers, healthcare staff, hospitality workers, service industry employees, and more. Developments like Victories Square are crucial in addressing this ongoing shortage by offering high-quality, stable housing where residents have access to jobs, schools and local amenities.
While Community Housing Network is headquartered in Metro Detroit, our mission and reach have been growing steadily across the state. The opening of Victories Square follows last year’s opening of Garfield Landing in Sault Ste. Marie. Both developments are significant steps in expanding affordable housing options in communities across Michigan that are facing pressure from rising rents and limited availability. As housing costs climb statewide, Community Housing Network has continued to adapt, partnering with communities and groups throughout the state to bring safe, sustainable, and affordable housing to Michigan.
This project was made possible through strong partnerships between Community Housing Network and the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), Odawa Economic Development Management, Inc., FHLBank Indianapolis, Hunt Capital Partners, Horizon Bank, Oakwood Construction, Miller Diversified Construction and Dimension Madison Design Group. Their support and collaboration played an important role in bringing this much-needed development to life.
